What is a Cup?
Prior to discussing how to convert quarts to cups, let’s define what they are. A cup(c or C) is a unit of volume in the British Imperial and United States Customary systems of measurement. The UK cups are equivalent to 250ml while the US cups are equivalent to 240ml.
What is a quart?
A quart(qt) is a unit of capacity both in the British Imperial and U.S. Customary systems of measurements and it is equal to a quarter gallon.
Three types of quarts that are currently used are the liquid quart and dry quart of the US customary system and the imperial quart of the British imperial system.
The most common usage of quarts is for liquid measurements.
Formula to Convert US Cups to US Quarts.
To convert a c to qt, multiply the volume by the conversion ratio.
We know that 1 US cup is equal to 0.25 US liquid quart.
Therefore, to convert c to qt, we multiply the c value 0.25 or divide it by 4.
Volume in quarts = Volume in Cups x 0.25
Example 1:
Convert 20 US cups to US liquid quart.
= 20 x 0.25
= 5 US liquid quarts.
