Dilution factor is the ratio of the solute to solvent or simply the ratio of the volume of the initial solution to the volume of the final solution.
Formula to calculate dilution factor.
Example:
Suppose you diluted 2 liters of juice with 3 liters of water, calculate the dilution factor.
Therefore, the final volume will be;
= 2 + 3
= 5
This means that, for every 2.5 unit of water there is 1 unit of juice. It can also be written as 1 : 2.5
