Formula to Convert Minutes to Hours.
To convert mins to hours we will first need to know how they are related.
Since from the definition we are told that a minute is equivalent to a sixtieth of an hour which can also be written as 60 minutes are equal to 1 hour.
Therefore, to convert mins to hrs, we divide the minutes by 60.
Example 1:
Convert 90 minutes to hours.
= 90 ÷ 60
= 1.5 hours
Example 2.
Suppose you booked a direct 18 hour and 30 minutes flight from Kenya to New York. Calculate the flight time in hours.
Change minutes to hours.
= 30 ÷ 60
= 0.5 hours
Put together
= 18 + 0.5
The flight time is 18.5 hours
Example 3.
Suppose a music video took 1 hour and 90 minutes to shoot. Calculate the time it took to shoot the video in hours.
Convert min to hrs.
= 90 ÷ 60
= 11/2 hours
Put together
= 1 + 11/2
Therefore, the music took 21/2 hours to shoot.
